When 25-year-old Ray Peterson was shot in the arm, he didn't have far to go for help. Only a few minutes after police received a call regarding shots fired in the area of Emanuel Hospital, Peterson walked into the emergency room seeking medical treatment. The incident occurred at 1:30 a.m. on Oct. 31.
On Monday morning, an Emanuel Hospital employee discovered a bullet hole in her office wall that police believe was connected to the incident. Police spokeswoman Det. Mary Wheat said investigators do not believe the incident was gang-related. No arrests have been made as of this posting.
