The Skanner Foundation again invites the community to share breakfast and celebrate the life, work, and vision of civil rights icon the Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. with its 37th annual breakfast celebration January 16, 2023 from 8:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.
After two years of celebrating virtually, the community can now come together in person at the Holiday Inn Portland - Columbia Riverfront (formerly Red Lion Hotel) located at 909 N Hayden Island Dr. The Skanner Foundation's Martin Luther King, Jr. Breakfast events generally host more than a thousand attendees, plus business and elected leaders often including the governor and both state and U.S. senators and representatives.
This year’s line-up is no less impressive. In addition to inspiring words from our elected officials, you'll hear from previous student scholarship winners, and enjoy local musical talent.
We look forward to inspiring, high-energy words from Eugene Hamilton, renowned speaker, educational consultant and community advocate. His 16-year career as an educator and public speaker has afforded him the opportunity to impact thousands of lives in over 25 U.S. States and internationally in such places as: England; Bermuda; Zimbabwe; the Virgin Islands and Canada.
