Community Dialogues to Explore Impact and Solutions to Youth and Gun Violence

PassinArt’s “Our Sons” community dialogues will be held in partnership with youth, local community members, government, health professionals, law enforcement, faith-based and non-profit organizations. The forums will help the community process the play and art exhibit’s powerful images; generate ideas; share resources; and commit to positive actions to reduce youth and gun violence.

Those attending the “Our Sons” at PassinArt dialogues are expected to be active participants and commit to future actions to support youth and families. Proceedings from the gatherings will be shared with the general public, community-based organizations and decision makers to help inform and enhance efforts already underway. The gatherings will be a time to promote peace and identify positive solutions and healing.

Several community partners have committed to plan and host community dialogues throughout the Portland area. These include: RACE TALKS, Black Women for Peace, Self Enhancement, Inc., Multnomah County North Portland Library, Portland Opportunities Industrialization Center (POIC), Portland Parent Union, Immigrant & Refugee Community Organization (IRCO), Africa House, and the City of Portland including its Office of Violence Prevention and Parks and Recreation Department.

The forums will take place in various locations throughout the Portland area.
