This month’s Race Talks, “Sistahs Are Doing It For Themselves: Women of Color in the Social Justice Movement,” will take place Jan. 9 at McMenamins Kennedy School, 5736 NE 33rd Ave. Doors open at 6 p.m., with the newcomers’ welcome at 6:45 p.m. and the program from 6:45 p.m. to 9:15 p.m. This event is free and open to all ages.
Women have always been at the forefront of the social justice movement. TIME magazine recognized this when it named as its 2017 Person of the Year women who spoke up about sexual assault and helped spur what seemed like an overnight revolution.
