Join a Virtual Event This Tuesday: "The Afghan Crisis: A Conversation with U.S. Senator Jeff Merkley of Oregon"

The community is invited to join a virtual meeting held Tuesday, Aug. 31, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., presented by the Muslim Educational Trust, New Portland Foundation, American Muslim Empowerment Network and Red Cross Cascades Region.

The event features U.S. Senator Jeff Merkley of Oregon, Representative Suzanne Bonamici, Multnomah County Chair Deborah Kafoury, Washington County Chair Kathryn Harrington, Afghan American leaders Aneelah Afzali, Founder and Executive Director of the American Muslim Empowerment Network and Salah Ansary, President of Lutheran Community Services Northwest, Dale Kunce, Regional CEO of American Red Cross Cascades Region, and Ronault Polo Catalani, Co-Founder of the New Portland Foundation. The panel will be discussing the current crisis in Afghanistan and what government and community leaders are doing to support those in need.
