Update: Police Say Shooting Victim Is Shiloh Hampton

The police have identified the victim in Monday evening's shooting as Shiloh Hampton, age 14.

Detectives say that Hampton was with a group of friends at the Lloyd Center Mall earlier in the day, and as friends made their way to park on Northeast 11^th Avenue and Multnomah Street, a suspect fired multiple shots into the crowd. Witnesses described late 1980s white Mercedes being involved in the shooting. The vehicle is lowered with chrome rims and tinted windows.

As Hampton was struck by the shots, the rest of the crowd fled from the area. None of the group that was originally with Hampton remained at the scene to talk with detectives. Police say they consider the people with Hampton to be "potential victims" and want to speak with them.

At this point in the investigation, investigators believe the shooting involved gang-involved people but have not determined the role gangs played, if any, in the life of Hampton.
