Benefit Amounts Rise

Unemployment benefits for Oregonians are slightly higher this month.
The amount paid to Oregonians filing for unemployment insurance benefits increased slightly on July 1. The maximum weekly benefit amount an individual can receive will increase to $445, while the minimum amount will be $104. Last year's range was $434 to $101.
Under Oregon law, each year the state Employment Department recalculates the maximum and minimum amounts paid weekly to those filing for unemployment benefits. The amounts are set as percentages of the average weekly wage earned by Oregonians.
Benefits range from 15 to 64 percent of average weekly wages. Both amounts are rounded down to the nearest dollar as required by law.
The change affects new unemployment insurance claims filed on or after July 2. Those with existing unemployment claims will continue to receive the same weekly amount.
