West Linn Police Officer Chris Thomas made a speeding stop on I205 that turned into a marijuana arrest.

Thomas stopped Jesse Ray Burns of Portland for driving 78 mph in a 55 mph zone. But when they made the stop they discovered Burns license had been revoked. And after they noticed the scent of cannabis they searched the car.

A convicted felon on probation in Multnomah County, Burns said he had a medical marijuana card. But he did not.

A vehicle search turned up 48 ounces of marijuana, 3.8 ounces of hashish, (compressed marijuana), and several packages of hashish wafers and oil. Burns told officers he was transporting the drugs to Portland for medical marijuana patients.

Burns failed field sobriety tests. He was arrested and taken to the Clackamas County Jail. Charges include: Driving While Suspended, Reckless Driving, DUII, PCS Marijuana over one ounce, and PCS Hashish.
