Auto Link Fraud Case
The Gresham Police would like anyone who believes they are a victim of fraud, either were not paid from the sale of their car or have not received a title to a vehicle purchased at Auto Link in 2008.
Last week the Gresham Police Department served search warrants at four locations associated with Auto Link, a Gresham car dealership.
The Auto Link investigation includes Gresham Police and the Oregon Departments of Justice and Motor Vehicles.
To date, at least 25 victims have been identified, primarily consisting of individuals who have purchased or sold a vehicle via Auto Link.
Investigators believe there are additional unidentified victims.

Lawn Sign Recycling
The City of Gresham offers free election campaign sign recycling collection through its Solid Waste and Recycling program from Wednesday, Nov. 5, through Thursday, Nov. 14, at Gresham City Hall in the west parking lot, 1333 N.W. Eastman Parkway.
Campaigns, Gresham and Wood Village residents may drop off election signs for recycling between 6:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Monday through Friday
Plastic and paper signs will be dismantled, and plastic, paper and metal components will be recycled. Wooden stakes will be bundled and donated to needy residents for firewood by the Gresham Optimists Club.
Literacy Tutor Training
Mt. Hood Community College is training volunteers to become literacy tutors. The College's Adult Basic Education's Volunteer Literacy Tutor program is offering a free literacy training workshop on Saturday, Nov. 15, 2008, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at MHCC. Lunch is provided.Once trained, tutors are asked to donate two to four hours a week for three or more months.

Computer Lab at Reflections
Sabin Community Development Corp. in partnership with Reflections Coffeehouse/Talking Drum will launch their new Community Technology Learning Lab Thursday, Nov. 6, 7:30 to 9:30 a.m., Reflections Coffeehouse, 446 Northeast Killingsworth at MLK Jr. Boulevard.
The project includes a free 3-station wireless lab, and a 10 station Learning Lab for community training located in the Talking Drum Bookstore, with a menu of services including Microsoft Unlimited Potential provided by Sabin CDC.
The facility will be open to community neighbors from 7 a.m. until 6 p.m. daily.
Coffee, tea and pastries will be served at the grand opening event, and Sabin's new executive director, educational partners, volunteers and community members will also be on hand.

Homebuyer Education
The African American Alliance for Homeownership plans its next Homebuyer Education Classes Saturday, Nob. 8 from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Emanuel Hospital Conference Room, MOB West, at 501 N. Graham St.
The event is for first-time homebuyers as well as current homeowners interested in budgeting, savings and affordability. Participants will learn how to work with realtors and lenders, and get tips on how to avoid predatory lending practices and more.

Community activist, mentor and DJ, David Jackson, is celebrating being named the Trail Blazers' official DJ. Celebrity friends are likely to appear. The premier party will be on Saturday, Nov. 8 at Aura, 1022 W. Burnside.
