Free Classes in Computers, Writing, Parenting
The Sabin Community Development Corporation announces its Spring and Summer Learning Lab community classes, including free computer classes every Tuesday and Thursday from 3:30 to 7 p.m. at the Reflections Books and Coffee computer lab.
Every first and third Saturday of the month beginning Feb. 7, from 1 to 2:30 p.m. is a writing program open to community residents with instructors from our city's print media profession. The course will be kicked off by S. Renee Mitchell, and further classes will be taught by Steve Bozzone, as well as
Volunteer instructors from The Oregonian, The Portland Business Journal and The Skanner News Group.
Starting the first week of March Portland State University, Portland Impact and Multnomah County Library sponsor a course on adult literacy.
Also upcoming the Youth Employment Institute and LifeWorks NW will lead a weekly Wednesday workshop with teens about better parenting.

workWISE Women's Career Workshop
The Northwest Catholic Counseling Center is offering workWISE, a workshop to help you discover careers suited to your personality, identify your strengths and translate them into marketable job skills, create strong resumes showcasing your strengths and master techniques that will boost your confidence in an interview and beyond.
workWISE will be held on Saturday, Feb. 21, from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The cost of the workshop is $15 for materials, lunch will be provided. If you're interested in attending, please contact The Northwest Catholic Counseling Center at 503-253-0964. Space is limited so register today.
Women in Black History
The Miss Black Oregon Scholarship Foundation hosts a Black history lecture by Darrell Millner of Portland State University, entitled "From Past to Present: African American Women that changed the course of history …"
In addition, a scholarship opportunity presentation by the NROTC will be offered.
The event is Feb. 7 from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Maranatha Church, 4222 NE 12th Ave.
