Inspirational speaker Tony Porter of "Break Out of the Man Box" travels to Portland to speak on the role that Black men can play in ending domestic violence, Thursday, May 6 from 6 to 8:00 p.m. at the Emmanuel Temple Community Room, 1033 N. Sumner.
Porter is co-founder of New York City-based A Call to Men, and is a popular speaker for the U.S. military, NFL, NBA and the United Nations.
Sponsored by Sovalti and Emmanuel Community Services, in cooperation with Twysted Healing Systahs, Porter's talk is part of a larger effort by local journalist, educator, poet and activist S. Renee Mitchell to heal communities and families touched by violence and abuse.
