The Portland Children's Museum offers visitors all-day, summer-long fun seven days a week.
The museum has three art studios, and original and entertaining puppet shows are performed twice daily Wednesday through Saturday. Daily Family Storytime is offered for all ages, and for the youngest visitors, there's Tots, Tales and Tunes on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
In addition, three camps are available: Music Together (register at musictogether-pdx.com); African Arts Camp (register at homowo.org); and Animation Camp (register at playmationvacation@ gmail.com).
The popular Dig Pit has been moved and improved and is heaps of imaginative fun.
The "construction site" is filled with rubber "gravel," plus plenty of buckets, shovels and dump trucks. Children can fill, measure, pour, sift and transport to their hearts' content. On a working conveyor belt children can turn the crank and move objects down the line.
Resident Puppeteer Penny Walter delights audiences with her original shows that combine storytelling and music from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday through Saturday.
Tots, Tales & Tunes is planned at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday for infants, toddlers and preschoolers. Enjoy stories, songs and musical instruments.
During Family Storytime stories are geared for the whole family, sprinkled with camp songs for the summer at 2 p.m. seven days a week.
