Spring Yvonne Sims died on May 27. She was 54.
Spring was born March 29, 1953 to Ora Lee Martin and Frank Sims in Portland. Spring attended Woodlawn Elementary school and Adams High School. She loved to read, study and research the fields of law, medicine and religion. Spring also learned to read and write in the Hebrew language. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy. Mention one of her grandchildren's names and she would light up bragging about each of their character and strengths. She opened her home to many young people and was often called Aunt Spring.
She loved her family deeply and prayed fervently that each one would become saved and serve the Lord with all of their heart. Whenever her children had a question or needed help finding a scripture in the Bible she knew exactly where to go. In one of her many writings she stated "My goal is Christ likeness; my family is the church; my ministry is to teach young children; and my mission is to secure the body of Christ in the area of prophecy. My life purpose is to love Christ, grow in Christ, share Christ and serve Christ through his church and to lead my family and others to do the same". Her wisdom and guidance will be truly missed.
Spring is preceded in death by her parents Ora Lee Martin and Frank Sims, a brother Henry Lee Martin, a sister Sherry Sims -Glass, a great-niece Cody Lynn Hatfield, and the love of her life Thomas Perry Martin and his son Sean Martin.
She leaves to mourn her children Kyna (Royal) Harris, Calla (Herman II) Jones, Manuella Martin all of Portland, Oregon; grandchildren La'Darius Jr., Nay'Chelle, Airriana, Sean, Langston, Aleksis, Aliyah, Kavina, and Kiara; her siblings Syble Corey of Portland, Susie (Henry) Martin of Flint Mi, and Brian (Patricia) Sims of Eugene, Ore.; Audrey Sims and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and extended family.
Arrangements by Terry Family Funeral Home.
