Jack Virgil Curtis, Jr. was born in St. Louis, Missouri to Jack and Curley Curtis on December 1, 1933. Jack departed this world and entered into Glory, August 24, 2009.
He is survived by his mother Mrs. Curley Davis, his son Virgil Ray, brother, John Pace, sister, Hazel P. Martin and many relatives and friends. Jack received Jesus as his Lord and Savior and he is in Glory with Him, now. Jack lived his formative years in Kansas City, Kansas. He attended Douglass Elementary School, and Northeast Junior High School. He graduated from Sumner High School in May, 1951. He enlisted in the United States Navy, March 10, 1952. Serving faithfully during the Korean and Vietnam conflicts, Jack retired from the Navy in march, 1971 as a Petty Officer First Class. Shortly thereafter, he moved to Washington state, setting up residence, first in Tacoma, then Seattle, then Bothell, and finally in Everett. Jack had been united in holy matrimony to Georgia Mae Walker. During this union, twins were born, a boy and a girl. The baby girl died shortly after birth. The baby boy, Virgil Ray Curtis survived. This marriage was dissolved. Jack was a civic minded person. He participated in many civic organizations, doing what he could to help make life a little better for everyone. Jack received an AA degree from Everett Community College and his BA degree from Western Washington University. Jack's legacy and his civic contributions will be a testament of the quality man he was. He will be missed, but not forgotten. A public visitation will be held from 3:00-8:00pm on Tuesday, September I, 2009 at Evergreen Funeral Home, 4504 Broadway in Everett.
Funeral Services were held at 10:30am on Wednesday, September 2 with Graveside Service and Military Honors at 2:15pm on Wednesday at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent Washington.
