You might not know it, but Safeway does a lot more than sell groceries.
The Safeway Foundation has long been a supporter of organizations that represent the diverse communities in North Portland. They've continually supported The Skanner Foundation, along with its annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day Breakfast, the African American Home Buyers Fair, Good in the NeighborHood, Spiffing up MLK Blvd., and the African American Health Coalition, among others.
Much of the funding for the foundation's efforts comes from employees and other donors, but now Safeway is asking for your help. And they're hoping that the promise of food and wine will motivate you.
The Safeway Foundation is holding an inaugural concert event to support their efforts in helping local organizations that support people with disabilities, hunger relief, education, and health and human services.
The event will feature live music, free beer, wine and food, from 6 to 10 p.m. on Friday, May 27 at The Woods, 6637 Milwaukie Ave. in Portland. Tickets are available at the door for $50.
Don't have the money but would still like to go? You may be in luck.
