Cool Nutz Signs to Suburban Noize Records; Releases New Single

Terrance Scott, known to many by his stage name Cool Nutz, has been the preeminent ambassador for Portland hip-hop since the 90s. His work with high profile artists such as E-40 and Bosko has given fans outside of the region a glimpse of what the Portland music scene has to offer. With his recent signing to leading indie label Suburban Noize Records, Scott plans to further broaden the awareness of Portland hip-hop.

The Grant High School alum is best known for releasing a slew of independent music through his label Jus Family Records. He hosts the Northwest Breakout Radio Show from 9 pm to midnight every Sunday on Jammin 107.5.

The artist recently gave an interview to HipHop DX, discussing his aspirations for his new record contract, the need to get more local artists exposure and where he draws his inspiration.

"From running my own label, to having deals with Atlantic and Universal [Records], this is another chapter in the story of Cool Nutz," says Scott. "It's just a testament of all the hard work, sacrifices, and dedication, that if you continue to make quality music and stay relevant, great opportunities will present themselves."

California based Suburban Noize Records was founded in 1995 by Brad Xavier and Kevin Zinger. It produces a number of genres, including punk rock, hip-hop, reggae and ska punk. The label also features well known artists such as Saigon, Slaine and Glasses Malone.

Scott is currently in the process of releasing a street album titled "Portland", which will feature artists such as Tech N9ne, Krizz Kaliko, The Grouch, Mistah F.A.B. and Messy Marv. As a teaser to the album, he recently released the single "Champagne Toast".
