This is going to be monumental!
Paramount has just released the trailer for the highly anticipated Bob Marley biopic “One Love,” Variety reports. The film stars Kingsley Ben-Adir as the reggae icon, focusing on Marley’s humble beginnings in Jamaica to his rise as an international superstar. From his time performing on the stage to spending time with his family, the film sets a beautiful picture of who Marley was at his core, centering on an assassination attempt he survived before returning to Jamaica for a peace concert.
Ben-Adir, who portrayed Malcolm X in Regina King’s One Night in Miami film, co-stars alongside Lashana Lynch (The Woman King) as Rita Marley and James Norton (Happy Valley) as record producer Chris Blackwell. Reinaldo Marcus Green (King Richard) serves as director, bringing together Marley’s short but impactful time on earth prior to his death in 1981. According to The Hollywood Reporter, his widow Rita Marley, and children Cedella and Ziggy Marley are all credited as producers on the project.
“It’s great to be here today on behalf of this movie about my father…I’m here as a producer of this film, but also as a steward of my father’s incredible legacy…this message of unity and love is as urgent as ever…People will deepen their connection to Bob and honor Bob in the right way,” son Ziggy Marley told audiences at CinemaCon.
“Bob Marley: One Love” is set to hit theaters on January 12, 2024. Check out the trailer below.
