Don’t Shoot Portland will hold a Bystander Intervention at 7 p.m. Sept. 12 at Artists Repertory Theater, 1515 SW Morrison Street, Portland, Oregon.

In response to President Trump’s recent commitment to end Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), this month's event is dedicated to all communities of color, particularly those of Latino ancestry and is co-hosted by Maria Garcia, owner of Revolucion Cafe.

The DACA program has served as a critical lifeline for nearly 800,000 young immigrants, or “Dreamers,” who came to this country as children and know the United States as their only home.

A percentage of proceeds from this event will be used to pay DACA fees for Dreamers.

Black and Brown communities share a history of solidarity, as their struggles are rooted in the American culture of racism and political terrorism. That's why Don’t Shoot Portland has been offering Bystander Intervention Training, co-hosted by Jewish and Asian communities, since 2016.

Through innovative direct action, the monthly Bystander Interventions aim to educate those who are seeking outreach strategies and solutions to end racial terror and violence.

Tickets for Sept. 12 are available at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/bystander-intervention-matters-communities-of-color-unite-tickets-37160689623.
