War has come to your home and you’re forced to escape. What obstacles do you encounter on your journey? What belongings do you take? How do you start a new life when your notion of home no longer exists?

Doctors Without Borders will bring its traveling, outdoor free exhibition on the global refugee crisis to Pioneer Courthouse Square on Oct. 16 - 22, titled "Forced From Home."

Through this project, Doctors Without Borders seeks to expose the realities of the crisis. With an experienced aid worker as their guide, visitors navigate the 10,000-square-foot exhibition space, following the route of a displaced person from Afghanistan, Burundi, Honduras, South Sudan, or Syria.

"Forced From Home" implores visitors to imagine the desperate plight faced by more than 65 million displaced people worldwide.

The interactive exhibition illustrates the feeling of being cramped in a rubber raft lost at sea, depicts how much water might be available in a refugee camp, and delves into the medical problems that many endure in their pursuit for safety.

To date, the exhibition has already visited Boulder, Colo. and Salt Lake City, Utah and Seattle, Wash.

After Portland, it will visit Oakland and Santa Monica. In 2016, "Forced From Home" traveled through the Northeast U.S. and welcomed +22,600 visitors and +1,000 local volunteers.
