The popular on-demand film streaming service Kanopy is now available for free to Multnomah County Library card holders.

Library card holders can access Kanopy and sign up to start streaming films on instantly by visiting multcolib.kanopy.com. Patrons can stream films films from any computer, television, or mobile device by downloading the Kanopy app for iOS, Android, AppleTV, Chromecast or Roku. 

Offering what the New York Times calls “a garden of cinematic delights,” Kanopy showcases more than 30,000 of the world’s best films, including award-winning documentaries, rare and hard-to-find titles, film festival favorites, indie and classic films, and world cinema with collections from the Criterion Collection, Kino Lorber, Music Box Films, Samuel Goldwyn, The Orchard, PBS and thousands of independent filmmakers. 

“Patrons have been asking for this service by name weekly for the past year and the library is delighted to be able to offer Kanopy to the community of Multnomah County film lovers,” says Electronic Content Librarian Kady Ferris. “We think patrons will enjoy the breadth and depth of video offerings, the smooth user experience, and the high number of apps and devices through which patrons can access the collection.” 

Multnomah County Library offers more than 600,000 electronic content items, including streaming music, videos, e-books and audiobooks at multcolib.org/e-books-and-more.
