James Bible Seeks Bellevue City Council Seat

BELLEVUE, Wash. – Civil rights attorney and former King County NAACP President James Bible is seeking a seat on the Bellevue City Council, KUOW reported last week.

Bible is challenging three-term incumbent Jennifer Robertson for Position 7.

Bible, who moved to Bellevue as a teenager, told KUOW he wants to focus on affordable housing, higher wages for service workers and including more people in decision making.

Bible’s legal work has included criminal and civil litigation, such as a suit on behalf of Che Taylor, killed in 2016 by Seattle police and a lawsuit on behalf of Jesse Hagopian, a Seattle teacher who was pepper sprayed at a Martin Luther King Day rally. Bible also represented the family of Charleena Lyles, who was killed by Seattle police in 2017.
