Anyone with African American or southern roots should know about the valuable records of the Freedmen’s Bureau when researching their family history.

This is one of the 18 free classes the Genealogical Forum of Oregon is offering during its 75th anniversary Genealogy Open House.

Janice Sellers, leader of the GFO’s African American Ancestry Group, will talk about Freedmen’s Bureau records on Friday, April 2 at 10 a.m. This virtual lesson is free and open to anyone.

The Genealogy Open House also includes DNA Day, Online Sources Day, Irish Day, Oregon Land Claims, Indentured Servants, Federal Census classes, and more.

Advance registration is required: gfo.org/openhouse
