PassinArt: A Theatre Company is hosting the inaugural Pacific Northwest Multi-Cultural (PNMC) Readers Series & Film Festival from August 20 through August 22, 2021. Due to the pandemic, the inaugural festival will be entirely virtual.
The PNMC Readers Series provides an artistic platform for playwrights, writers, filmmakers of color, Indigenous origins to showcase their work with other artists and the public. Play readings and independent films will be featured. The event includes webinars and thought-provoking panel discussions with local, regional, national theatre, and film industry professionals.
The festival presents a special session, A Conversation with Actor, Writer, Director, and PNMC Festival Ambassador Javon Johnson. Javon currently co-stars in Tyler Perry’s series The Oval. His many acting credits include The Quad, American Soul, Barber Shop 2: Back in Business, and Daddy’s Little Girls. Johnson’s short film Heaven directed by the late great Chadwick Boseman screened at the HollyShorts Film Festival, Martha’s Vineyard African American Film Festival, and Cannes International Pan African Film Festival. He is also a founding ensemble member/resident playwright of Congo Square Theater Company and founding artistic director of Bear Fruit Conservatory Performing Arts Training School.
