The Portland Rose Festival Foundation’s Public Relations Manager Rich Jarvis retired on June 23, 2023, after an extraordinary career with Portland’s Official Festival. Jarvis, who brought his expertise from many years of television production experience to the job, was attentive to the needs of media outlets and festival constituents alike.
Rich Jarvis’ positive attitude and humble service were recognized as he was invited to ride on the Clown Prince Throne in the CareOregon Starlight Parade on June 3. Said Jarvis, “I was so honored to have the chance to witness the parade in motion, with a whole new perspective on the outpouring of positivity our parade-goers bring.
"And I got to see the impact our events have in the Portland community in a different way. It was a night I will never forget!”
In addition, the board and staff of the foundation acknowledged his dedication at a retirement party held in his honor on the patio of the Rose Building, complete with a flash mob dance routine from “Newsies.”
Rose Festival CEO Marilyn Clint commented, “I am beyond grateful to have had Rich as a key component of our communications team for nearly two decades. Rose Festival is among the top festivals in the world, due in part to the incredible professionals we have working for the foundation. We wish Rich all the best in his retirement."
Rich’s retirement plans are to do more gardening, travel, antique restoration projects and home improvement projects while spending more time with wife, Merlin, and their two cats.
CEO Marilyn Clint will be the interim contact for all media inquiries.
