Kids and parents alike will have something to smile about when the Portland Beavers and Portland General Electric join forces next month to present Score One for Safety at PGE Park, corner of Southwest 18th Avenue and Morrison St.
Gates open at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, July 29, with the first pitch of the Beavers game vs. the New Orleans Zephyrs set for 7:05 p.m.
This educational and interactive event brings together local nonprofit organizations and government agencies to teach children and their parents the importance of being safe.
After entering the gates of PGE Park, children will receive Safety Scorecards and then visit exhibitor displays. After each visit, children earn stamps or stickers, and when they collect 10, their Safety Scorecards may be redeemed for a special prize from PGE.
Their completed scorecards also give them the opportunity to win a new bicycle. In addition, the first 3,000 fans ages 14 and younger receive a free collectable metal lunchbox featuring mascots Larry the Lightbulb and Boomer the Beaver.
PGE sponsors Score One for Safety as part of its commitment to educating customers and employees about preventing electrical contact injuries and fatalities. The company encourages everyone, especially young people, to exercise caution and care around electrical equipment.
Ticket prices start at $8 and may be purchased online at www.ticketmaster.com, at all Ticketmaster outlets or by calling 503-224-4400. Group tickets may be purchased at the PGE Park box office or by calling 503-553-5555.
