Portland-based restaurateur Frank Taylor has become the sole owner of the downtown restaurant Portland Prime. Taylor bought out his business partner Paul Keeler after more than three years of building the business.
"I think it's good for restaurants to be locally owned," Taylor said. "I've been here in Portland building the business, and I'm the one you see in the restaurant all the time. So now it's really what you see is what you get.
"I'm really excited about being the sole owner. I want to continue building the service, the food quality and the ambience. And I want Portland Prime to be known as a community restaurant. So I will continue to focus on ways we can give back to the community."
Taylor has sponsored several community events at Portland Prime including: a benefit for the Chinese garden; the Salute to Portland African American Leaders awards; a back-to-school shoe giveaway; and a Thanksgiving turkey giveaway.
Taylor managed or owned restaurants in Texas, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Michigan before moving to Oregon. He and Keeler still co-own Quartet, on the Portland's south Waterfront. Quartet is managed by Fadi Achour.
