Services for Myrtle Nickerson will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 3, at Rose City Cemetery Chapel, 5625 NE Fremont.
She died Sept. 25, in Portland.
Nickerson was born June 6, 1923, in Marshall, Texas. She attended Bishop College, in Marshall, and Portland State University.
She worked as a teacher in her hometown, was a Pacific Northwest Bell operator, and a retail manager with the Salvation Army.
She was married to Nathan W. Nickerson for 64 years. He preceded her in death.
Nickerson was a member of the Urban League Of Portland. She participated in Challengers Bridge Club, gardening, bridge, and was an avid sports fan. She was a member of the Neighborhood Church of God.
Nickerson is survived by her five children: Doris (Carl) McReynolds, Marietta Ga., LaVerne (Sam) Thompson, Robert (Linda) Nickerson, Ralph (Kawana) Nickerson and Ronald Nickerson of Portland; twelve grandchildren; six great grandchildren; one brother: Lamar (Earlene) Johnson and two sisters: Dorothy (Claude) Daniels and Faye Lois Smith, all of Marshall, Texas; brother-in law: Robert (Ann) Nickerson of Denver, Colo.; brothers: Acie Johnson, Jr. and Lacy Kirk Johnson; as well as nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. 
She was preceded in death by her sisters Rosalie Spears, Ella Mae Webster, Bertha Simmons and Helen Johnson, as well as her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Acie Johnson.
