In these troubling economic times, people may be unable to make their healthcare a priority and may feel that they don't have the money to visit their doctor or fill a prescription. 
According to a survey by the National Association of Insurance Commissioners released in August 2008:
Twenty-two percent of Americans say that they have cut back on the number of times they see a physician as a result of the weaker economy. 
Eleven percent say they have cut back on the number of prescription drugs they take or the dosage of those medications to make the prescriptions last longer.
