As one of the celebratory initiatives for its 150th birthday, Macy's has announced that it is taking its signature runway fashion show to 27 markets via regional movie theaters, including Portland, on Oct. 23.
Macy's Passport: Fashion Cinema will be broadcast on the big screen in high definition as part of a cinematic event that will include special musical performances by the Pussycat Dolls, Fall Out Boy and Ne-Yo, and a presentation of the season's most runway-worthy styles.
The event is at 8 p.m. at the Pioneer Place Regal Cinemas with a pre-show reception at 7 p.m. Every attendee will receive an exclusive Macy's shopping discount. General tickets will be available for purchase for $25 online at www.macys.com/passport.
All of the proceeds from ticket sales will benefit Cascades AIDS Project. A champagne reception will kick off the evening.
The multimedia experience will combine fashion, music and entertainment to build on the Macy's Passport fund-raiser's 26-year heritage. The screening event will include a pre-show reception with all proceeds benefiting Cascades AIDS Project.  Designer collections featured in this year's national fashion show include Calvin Klein, Ben Sherman, Ed Hardy, Levi's, Tommy Hilfiger, INC, Alfani, and others.
Since its beginnings in 1982, Macy's Passport shows in San Francisco and Los Angeles have raised more than $27 million for HIV/AIDS organizations.
"For more than a quarter century, Macy's has been a strong advocate for the fight against HIV and AIDS, and each year we come together to help raise awareness, educate the public and celebrate the progress being made in research and science," said Macy's West Chairman and CEO Jeff Gennette. "This year we are thrilled to bring Macy's Passport: Fashion Cinema to our community so that we can continue to champion this great cause and support local HIV and AIDS organizations."
