Depression Discussion 
Kenneth Ensroth, child psychiatrist and clinical director of the Legacy Emanuel Child and Adolescent Treatment Program will be discussing, "Depression, Mood Disorders and Bipolar Disorders," including symptoms, treatment and medications.    
The event is Thursday, Dec. 11, from 7-9 pm at Legacy Emanuel Hospital, Lorenzen Conference Center, 2801 N. Gantenbein Ave. Cost is  $5 at the door.
Depression is a treatable illness that impacts many children and adolescents.  About 5 percent of all children and adolescents suffer from depression, which affects families, school and social functioning.

Infrastructure – A New Deal?
The League of Women Voters of Portland hosts a panel discussion on the status of public infrastructure in the U.S. and in Portland, Dec. 9 at 7 p.m.
The event will be held in the Board Room of the Multnomah County Building, 501 SE Hawthorne Blvd. It is free, and the public is invited to attend.
A panel of urban planning experts will discuss the need for a comprehensive policy to fund and implement maintenance programs and to update facilities to meet future needs.
During the Great Depression government-funded work projects helped stimulate the economy by focusing on infrastructure: Is this a feasible direction for the U.S. to move in, in view of the current economic crisis and a new president?

Women of Distinction
The March of Dimes Greater Oregon Chapter, is accepting applications for the 27th Annual White Rose Award—A Salute to Women of Achievement.
White Rose honorees are selected on the basis of volunteerism, professional excellence, commitment to improving the status of women in the region, and contributions to the community as a whole. Honorees must live or work in Oregon. Award recipients will be recognized at the White Rose Luncheon, Thursday May 21, at the Portland Marriott Downtown.

Caregiver Support Group
The Family Caregiver Support group meets Thursday, Dec. 4, at 3 p.m. in the first floor conference room of Building 2 on the Legacy Good Samaritan Hospital campus, 1015 NW 22nd Ave.
Rick Davison of Adult Living Alternatives will provide helpful information about placement of a loved one in an assisted living facility or foster home.
