Since 1907, the Portland Rose Festival's Starlight Parade has lit up the downtown and celebrated the "Spirit of the West."
On May 30, from 8:30 to 11 p.m., about 250,000 spectators will gather to watch dozens of floats, bands and other attractions meander through the downtown blocks. The parade starts NW Burnside and 9th Avenue, traveling through downtown by way of Burnside, 4th Avenue, Salmon Street, Broadway, Stark, 10th Avenue, and Taylor, ending at Lincoln High School.
The parade route will close to traffic at 6 p.m. Burnside will close at 7 p.m.
The Rose Festival itself will begin on Friday May 22 at 4:30 p.m. at Waterfront Park. There will be free admission and once the sun sets a fireworks and lightshow will dazzle downtown Portland. Events continue throughout the week, visit www.rosefestival.org for a full listing.
