The unofficial list of candidate filings for the 2009 primary and General Election Aug. 18 is posted online at http://your.kingcounty.gov/elections/200908/candidatefilings.aspx
Of the 331 county, city and local taxing district positions on the 2009 ballot, more than 500 candidates filed for office this week.  Candidates have until Thursday, June 11, to withdraw from office.
While hundreds of candidates filed for office during the five-day filing period this week, there are 15 positions with no candidates filing for office.
King County Elections will hold a special, three-day filing period beginning Wednesday, June 10 at 8:30 a.m. and ending at 4:30 p.m. Friday, June 12 for the following offices:

Town of Beaux Arts Village, Council Position No. 4, unexpired 2-year term
Town of Yarrow Point, Council Position No. 3
Town of Yarrow Point, Council Position No. 5
King County Fire Protection District No. 24, Commissioner Position No. 3
King County Fire Protection District No. 31, Commissioner Position No. 2, unexpired 4-year term
King County Fire Protection District No. 31, Commissioner Position No. 3, short and full term
King County Fire Protection District No. 38, Commissioner Position No. 3
King County Fire Protection District No. 50, Commissioner Position No. 3
Fall City Water District, Commissioner Position No. 3
King County Water District No. 19, Commissioner Position No. 3
King County Water District No. 54, Commissioner Position No. 1, unexpired 2-year term
King County Water District No. 117, Commissioner Position No. 3, short and full term
King County Water District No. 123, Commissioner Position No. 3

Candidates who wish to file during the special, three day filing period must complete a declaration of candidacy in person by 4:30 p.m. Friday, June 12 at King County Elections located at 919 SW Grady Way in Renton.
In the event no candidates files at the conclusion of next week's three-day filing period, election officials will declare an election lapse for those positions and the incumbent will remain in the position until the next odd-year election cycle. If the position is vacant, the jurisdiction may appoint someone to serve until the next election.
