Local CME Church Hosts NW Regional Conference

Allen Temple C.M.E. Church is the honored host of the 43rd Annual Conference of the Alaska Pacific Region in Portland, through Saturday, June 20, at the Airport Holiday Inn. 
The Ninth Episcopal District Theme, "From Good To Great: The Jesus Challenge – Building Leaders  For Today and Tomorrow" sets the tone for the Quadrennial  National Conference scheduled for  September,  2009  in  St. Louis, Mo.
Bishop Henry M. Williamson, Sr., the Presiding Prelate of the 9th Episcopal District is the 52nd Bishop of the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church will be in attendance with hundreds of delegates,  guests and community members. 
Rev. Dr. LeRoy Haynes, Jr., Pastor of Allen Temple C.M.E. Church and Presiding Elder of the Alaska Pacific Conference, will assist Bishop Williamson with official oversight of the annual conference.
Bishop Williamson's jurisdiction encompasses five regions and over 100 churches on the West Coast.  He has a B.A. in Sociology from Purdue University, Master of Divinity from Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary and honorary Doctorate of Divinity degree from United Theological Seminary.
His pastorial ministry spanned from 1969-2002 at Christian Methodist Episcopal churches across the nation. He sits on the National Board of Rainbow/Push and is the founder and CEO of One Church One School Community Partnership Program which is a national program teaches youth to value life and learning. 
In December 2005, the C.M.E. Church  celebrated  its  135th anniversary.  Today there are more than 800,000 members across the U.S.A., with missions and churches in  Haiti, Jamaica, Ghana, Liberia and Nigeria.
