Educational Resource, Clergy Leadership Forum
The Educational Resource Street Fair will be held Saturday, Aug. 8 and the Trustee/Clergy Leadership Forum on Friday and Saturday evening, Aug. 7-8 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Quincy Jones Performance Center. The event is free and open to the public. The Matsiko Children's Choir (African children from Uganda) will perform Friday night, plus national clergy speaking on issues of faith, support for children, youth and families. The Rev. Raphael Warnock, Sr. Pastor at the late Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King's Church will speak on Friday. On Saturday, the Rev. Dr. C. Vernon Mason, from New York Theological Seminary will speak. www.edrsf.org

 Diversity Task Force Recruitment
The Puget Sound Diversity Taskforce Recruitment Meeting will meet at REI Headquarters, 6750 S. 228th St. in Kent, Wa. on Aug. 26 froom 9 â€" 11 am. This recruitment/networking event is open to employers and career placement professionals. There is no cost to participate. Come network with other organizations and employers such as Vulcan, Alaskan Copper, Starbucks, The Nature Conservancy, Washington State Department of Personnel, King County, Seattle Central Community College and many others to build and sustain relationships to aid in the placement of job seekers. New Futures Recruiting Board Members
This summer, New Futures, a non-profit that operates in South King County, is seeking candidates to serve as members of the Board of Directors and other participants.
New Futures, euro trade; mission is to partner with families to create communities where children thrive. Our integrated, culturally relevant programs build skills, foster connectedness, and promote strengths. Within low-income apartment complexes in South King County, which have the highest rates of poverty and school failure in King County, New Futures provides educational programs and support services to families we work with.

Seattle Schools Seeks Committee Members
Seattle Public Schools is actively seeking nominations for its Student Family Partnership Advisory Committee. The committee will be comprised of parents/families/guardians who reflect the diversity of Seattle Public Schools families. The committee advises the Superintendent on the implementation of School-Family Partnerships Policy (E10.01) while also providing support and technical assistance to District schools in using family and community engagement national best practices.
The Student Family Partnership Advisory Committee will consist of up to 30 parents/guardians and family members representing the diverse population of the District. Consideration will be given to involve those community members and groups who have not historically been active or represented in District decision-making processes, as well as representation by individuals of differing gender, ethnicity, race, age, geography and stakeholder interest groups.
The initial term of membership to the committee is October 2009. October 2010.
To be considered for the Student Family Partnership Advisory Committee, parents, guardians or family members should complete and submit a nomination form by Monday, Sept. 21. Information available on Seattle Public Schools Web site at http://www.seattleschools.org.
