For the first time this year, Oregon voters -- like Washington voters -- will be able to track their ballots online to make sure their votes are counted. In addition, new online tools allow voters to register, keep track of important deadlines and research important candidate and ballot measure information.
Remember Tuesday, Oct. 12 is the last day to register to vote in Oregon. To register online to vote, you must have a valid Oregon driver's license, permit or ID card.
Oregon:
In order to find out if you're registered to vote, you can search the online database. You can also track your ballot to make sure it gets counted. Go to www.oregonvotes.org and click on "My Vote" to enter your first and last name, date of birth and the zip code in which you are registered or were last registered to vote in Oregon.
The page will display your registration status and provide a link to drop sites for your ballot. Once your ballot has been received by elections officials, your status will be updated.

Nov. 2 – Election Day. Ballots should not be mailed. Ballots in Oregon are only counted if they are received by election day. It is important to use a drop box location if you don't think your ballot will reach elections officials in time.
Washington:
Washington's election website is filled with useful information for the novice voter. Does you vote count if you didn't put your ballot in the privacy envelope? How does the Top 2 primary work? Are felons allowed to vote? (Yes; partisan primaries are no more; and only if they've had their voting rights restored).
The general election in Washington state is held Nov. 2. While the deadline to register to vote in Washington for the mail-in election has passed, it is still possible to register for in-person voting by Oct. 25. You have until the day before the election to register as a write-in candidate.
Oct. 15 – Ballots mailed.

Nov. 1 – Final day to file as write-in candidate.
Nov. 2 – Election day. Be sure to drop your ballot off at an official ballot drop-off site or mail it before the post office closes. Ballots that are post-marked by election day are counted. To be sure your ballot is counted on election day, you can drop yours off at one of the following sites before 8 p.m. Ballots dropped off after 8 p.m. on Nov. 2 will NOT be counted:
