What a beautiful tribute!

Michelle Obama shares a heartwarming message honoring her mom for Mother’s Day, ABC News reports.

Just in time for Mother’s Day, the Forever First Lady released a tribute of her own, honoring her mother, Marian Robinson. The video reflects on Obama’s own childhood and the nostalgic memories she holds near and dear to her heart.

Unconditional love

“Growing up with my mom was always an adventure. It was trips to the library as a toddler to learn about ABCs; it was the entire family piling into our car to go to the local drive-in; and my mom inviting family over for New Year’s Eve, passing around her special hors d’oeuvres and toasting in the new year,” Obama began.

She went on to discuss the deep values her mom instilled in her and how they all played a part in preparing her for the woman she is today.

“My mother gave me that nonstop, unconditional love that was so important for me to grow up. In so many ways, she fostered in me a deep sense of confidence in who I was and who I could be by teaching me how to think for myself, how to use my own voice and how to understand my own worth."

"I simply wouldn’t be who I am today without my mom,”

added Obama.

Robinson

She then announced a special honor for Robinson, a new exhibit in the Obama Presidential Center in Chicago that will pay homage to Robinson and her contributions. The exhibit, entitled “Opening the White House,” will reinforce the values of community and family that are so germane to Robinson, with the goal of making everyone “[feel] at home,” said Obama. Featured in the exhibit will be scaled replicas of the White House East Room, Blue Room, and the South Lawn, wings in the edifice where the Obamas regularly hosted guests.

Obama previously talked about the significance of having her mother with them during their time in the White House and how Robinson contributed to maintaining a sense of normalcy for their family and especially the girls. Obama said she is excited to honor her mother in this way and hopes to one day welcome everyone to see the space when the Presidential Center opens to the public in 2025.

“This is just one part of the story we’re telling at the Obama Presidential Center. I am so excited to announce that we will be dedicating a space…in her honor…In the years ahead, we want to welcome you to Chicago to see it -- maybe even with your mom. So Happy Mother’s Day everyone. And especially to you, mommy. Love you.”

And a Happy Mother’s Day to you too, Forever First Lady!
