Bernie Kronberger died Nov. 8, 2016 at the age of 70. Kronberger and his wife Carol Ocheltree had just returned from a three-week trip to Vietnam. The couple had pledged to do more traveling after Kronberger retired from the Wells Fargo's Portland office in January 2016.
Kronberger had become a community fixture after leading Well Fargo's philanthropic efforts in Oregon since 1999.
The many groups with which he worked include the Hispanic Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce, Mercy Corps Northwest, Oregon Bankers Association, Oregon Business Association, Community Housing Fund, Oregon Commission for Voluntary Action & Service, United Cerebral Palsy Association of Oregon, the University of Oregon Endowment Foundation, the Portland Art Museum, World Affairs Council of Oregon, Oregon Council for Hispanic Advancement, Portland Housing Center, Neighborhood Partnership Fund, United Way of the Columbia-Willamette, Portland Opera Association, Hacienda Community Development Corp. and Oregon Association of Minority Entrepreneurs.
