To The Editor:
Regarding your article entitled "City Will Settle Racial Discrimination Suit" by Brian Stimson, you made a glaring error in remarks attributed to me.
In that piece you wrote
"Leonard said he removed the affirmative action supervisor, Mikal Shabazz, from the chain of command and appointed him to a non-supervisory role in the director's office, and began training to ensure workplace rules are enforced uniformly and managers are held to a minimum standard."
I actually hired Mikal Shabazz to be in a supervisory role in the director's office to create a training program to ensure workplace rules are enforced uniformly and managers are held to a minimum standard.
Mikal Shabazz has my complete confidence to create the best working atmosphere as is possible in the work place. He is working hard to make sure all women and men of the Bureau of Development Services are treated fairly and are judged only on the quality of the work, not their age, sex, race or religious affiliation.
