Letter to the Editor: Regarding 'Initially Supportive Some Community Leaders Criticize Move to Decriminalize Drugs'

I was surprised to see your article with the headline indicating Community Leaders' criticism of Oregon Measure 110. I only saw one community leader mentioned. 

Sure other approaches to expanding treatment could be supported but why not support a measure that would more than double funding for treatment in addition to other proposed approaches? Something must be done. Oregon shamefully ranks near last in treatment funding. Our current system of criminalizing drug use disproportionately affects minorities.

Nothing good comes from giving people hard on their luck additional barriers to success such as criminal charges.
